NextGen Framework

Preparing the Next Generation for Real Life Through Movement

Physical education should be more than games, fitness tests, or simply keeping students active. It should prepare young people for the physical, mental, and social demands of life.

At NextGen Phys Ed, everything we do is built around one simple belief:

Movement is one of the most powerful tools we have to prepare children for real life.

The NextGen Framework provides a practical roadmap for helping schools create physical education programs that develop capable, confident, and resilient students through purposeful movement.

1. Capability

Building students who are physically prepared for life.

Students should graduate with the strength, coordination, balance, endurance, mobility, and movement skills needed to meet everyday challenges with confidence.

Capability is the foundation upon which all lifelong physical activity is built.

2. Competence

Developing the skills to move with purpose.

Confidence begins with competence.

Students should learn how to run, jump, throw, catch, climb, balance, lift, and solve movement challenges in a variety of environments.

Competence creates independence and encourages lifelong participation in physical activity.

3. Confidence

Helping students believe they can overcome challenges.

Every successful movement experience strengthens self-belief.

Physical education should provide opportunities for every student to experience success, solve problems, take appropriate risks, and discover what they are capable of achieving.

Confident students become confident adults.

4. Character

Developing resilience through purposeful challenge.

Movement teaches perseverance, responsibility, integrity, teamwork, leadership, and respect.

Physical education is one of the few places where students can safely experience failure, learn from mistakes, and develop the resilience needed to succeed in life.

Character is built through challenge.

5. Contribution

Preparing students to strengthen their communities.

The ultimate goal of physical education extends beyond the gymnasium.

We want students to become healthy, capable citizens who contribute to their families, schools, workplaces, and communities throughout their lives.

Preparing students for life means preparing them to serve others.

The NextGen Difference

Traditional physical education often focuses on activities.

The NextGen Framework focuses on outcomes.

Instead of asking:

What activities did students participate in today?

We ask:

Who are students becoming because of those experiences?

That simple shift changes everything.

Every Partnership Begins Here

Whether we’re helping a school redesign curriculum, secure grant funding, improve facilities, or support educators, every recommendation is guided by the NextGen Framework.

It serves as the foundation for our programs, our partnerships, and our vision for the future of physical education.

Because preparing students for life begins with purposeful movement.

Join the Movement

Every child deserves the opportunity to become capable, competent, confident, resilient, and prepared for life.

If your school shares that vision, we’d love to partner with you.
